The SFC Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Regtech Forum was successfully held on 4 November 2024 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, with the attendance of more than 300 participants.
In her opening remarks, the SFC’s Chief Executive Officer Ms Julia Leung encouraged the financial industry to adopt Regtech responsibly and more widely to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. She cited data from the SFC’s Report on the Adoption of Regtech for Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism, to highlight the progress, key drivers and use cases for Regtech adoption.
Among the highlights of the event, Mr Joseph Chan, the Acting Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, gave a keynote speech, while the SFC’s Executive Director of Intermediaries Dr Eric Yip hosted a plenary panel with senior representatives from the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department and the financial industry.
