We are looking to recruit an experienced law drafter to join us as an Assistant Counsel. This is an excellent opportunity to join the statutory body which regulates and promotes the development of the securities and futures markets in Hong Kong including by promulgating legislation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
This is a hands-on role and you will be responsible for advising on proposals for primary and subsidiary legislation. This will involve assisting policy divisions to formulate draft drafting instructions for Bills to amend the Securities and Futures Ordinance, liaising with Government law drafters and participation in Legislative Council Bills Committees. It will also involve working closely with instructing divisions to draft subsidiary legislation for the Commission to make, including assessing the feedback from public consultation exercises, liaison with the Government and their legal advisers to settle the final text of the legislation before Gazettal and helping to navigate the negative vetting process through the Legislative Council.
Requirements:
You should have a good academic record and be a Hong Kong-qualified solicitor with at least three years’ post-qualification experience in Hong Kong, with substantial and relevant experience in legislative drafting in both English and Chinese or related legislative work.
