Assistant Counsel (Advisory) - Legal Services

This is an excellent opportunity for a junior to mid-level solicitor to join the Legal Services Division. This role provides a challenging and interesting job opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of financial regulatory work.

The key focus of the role will be to act as in-house counsel advising on the performance of the Commission's statutory functions and a broad range of matters affecting the Commission, as well as contractual arrangements to which the Commission is a party. You will also gain exposure to the preparation of primary and subsidiary legislation and associated documents administered by the Commission.

You must have excellent analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex issues and give practical, well-reasoned and researched written legal advice.

You must have a good academic record and be qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong.

You should have experience of reviewing procurement contracts and other commercial agreements. You should also be familiar with relevant securities and companies legislation, and understand constitutional and administrative law.

An excellent command of written and spoken English is essential. Chinese language ability would be an advantage.

Knowledge of the structure and operation of the Hong Kong securities and futures industry and markets would also be an advantage.
